SNS network partners got millions from Horizon 2020

Partners in the SNS networks FiberTies and the Nordic Network for Tall Wood Buildings have been granted  their application to horizon 2020! SNS congratulates and wish you good work with the important network Build-in-Wood!

The new project Build-in-Wood started off September 1st 2019 and will go on until August 2023. Build-in-Wood will develop a sustainable and innovative wood value chain for the construction of multi-storey wood buildings. The main cause is to meet the global and European challenges of reducing the greenhouse gas emissions from the construction sector – the construction sector is one of the largest emitters of carbon.

Make wood a competitive building material

Build-in-Wood will, based on experiences from the stakeholders involved in construction of some of the world’s largest wooden multi-storey buildings, take building with wood beyond state of the art. The consortium has identified a strong need for improving the whole value chain and intent to make wood a competitive building material by delivering a fully documented, demonstrated, sustainable and cost effective building system.

Innovation process starts

Build-in-Wood will address this challenge by innovative development of materials and components as well as structural systems and façade elements for multi-storey wood buildings fit for both new construction and retrofitting. This includes the development of insulation materials from bio-based fibers.

Horizon 2020 contributes with about 8,5 million Euro of the overall budget of 10,3 million Euro. 21 international partners are involved in the project. Project coordinator will be Niels Morsing at the Danish Technological Institute.
