NordForNet is short for Nordic Forest Research Network. NordForNet is a modernized version of the previous concept CAR that has changed name.
NordForNet is an important tool for forest research and longer term networking in the Nordic region and adjacent countries. The NordForNets have a strong policy connection. They have to clearly formulate their question and deliver results that serves as a recommendation for decision-making and policy-making. Networks dealing with interdisciplinary challenges are preferred. Moreover, it will be an advantage to have representatives from academia, industry and public sector to provide a clear policy link (triple helix cooperation).
Participants in submitted network applications should include researchers from at least three countries in the Nordic region (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the autonomous areas Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland Islands).
SNS supports NordForNets over a period of 5 years. A NordForNet can receive funding from SNS at a maximum of 10% of the total budget of the NordForNet. Funding from SNS for a NordForNet is up to 300.000-600.000 SEK per NordForNet and year.
A NordForNet shall establish an activity plan for five years, that should be updated for the year ahead.
