BIOGEOMON 2026 – Ecosystems in Transition

Since 1987, the BIOGEOMON conference series has provided a vital forum for integrated, place-based ecosystem research across the biosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere, and atmosphere, hence the ”MON” in BIOGEOMON.

Newsletter: Biogeomon 2026

The 2026 conference, themed ”Ecosystems in Transition” will feature 20 interdisciplinary sessions covering topics from nitrogen and carbon cycling to peatlands, hydrology, forest health, soil/microbe interactions, and ecosystem restoration, alongside plenary lectures from leading international scientists.

The program offers numerous opportunities for PhD students and early-career researchers to present their work, network, and engage in mentoring and discussion sessions.

Participants will also enjoy field excursions to two world-class research infrastructures of the SITES network, Röbäcksalen and Svartberget research station. Svartberget recently celebrated 100 years of field-based research and hosts the internationally renowned Krycklan Catchment Study.

BIOGEOMON 2026 is co-chaired by Hjalmar Laudon and Kevin Bishop and presents a unique opportunity to share research, explore ecosystem complexity, and connect with a vibrant international community of ecosystem scientists.
