Mimmi Blomquist reinforces the SNS and NKJ secretariat

From this August, Mimmi Blomquist is back on track, working at the SNS secretariat. Two kids and a PhD thesis later, she’s back!

Mimmi has worked at the secretariat previously for a few years, with administration of the networks that the organizations finance, projects we run and events we organize. Now she has been on parental leave for a longer period, with two children. During the that time, she has also had time to finalize the major part of her doctoral thesis.

– My PhD is in forest pathology, on root rot, Mimmi says.

It’s not a bad skill increase at the secretariat! Jonas Rönnberg, head of the secretariat, runs the research project, and is also Mimmi’s supervisor. The thesis should be completed in about a year.

Mimmi is trained as a forester, first at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences SLU in Umeå, then at the Euroforester program at SLU in Alnarp. Although she is mostly focused on forests, she will work both with NKJ and SNS at the secretariat.

What is fun about working with NKJ and SNS?

– The colleagues are so nice! And there are also such exciting, current and fun questions that you get to work with. It is a broad job when you work with both the forestry and agricultural side. If you have an idea about something, just bring it up and it may very well turn into a project in the future.

The colleagues at the secretariat wish you very warm welcome back in a time when we are growing and we manage more activities!

Hobby: picking mushrooms, beekeeping, farming (“but I bought fruit trees now, because the snails don’t eat them anyway”).

Unexpected: Mimmi has sold a number of bee colonies (“they swarmed!”)
