Nordic Forest Research (SNS) invites PhD students and young researchers in forest related subjects to a matchmaking event in connection with the IUFRO World Congress in Stockholm in June 2024.
You can get economic support for expenses in relation to the event, and in return help us in the booth!
SNS offers an opportunity to join the IUFRO World Congress 2024, take part of lectures and the full exhibition, and at the same time meet new colleagues for future joint projects.
SNS wants to increase the research cooperation across the Nordic national borders, and we want to give young researchers in forestry a fair chance to form a broad professional network as a basis for their coming career. We think that there is a huge advantage in interlinking different projects initiated in the Nordic region. Collaboration creates synergies, helps bridge gaps between research and forestry in practice and promotes cross sectoral exchange.
Therefore, we create this arena for meetings, networking and knowledge exchange among Nordic forest researchers at one of the largest global forest events.
SNS offers young researchers up to 15 000 SEK to cover travel and accommodation expenses in relation to the matchmaking event, and/or the congress fee. To be granted, you will be expected to support in the Nordic SNS booth for a minimum of 4 hours during the week, according to a wishlist that will be established as soon as the schedule for the congress week has become more clear. We will offer 2 people from each Nordic country, in total 10 peoples, the support. You are of course also welcome to register and join the matchmaking event without applying for the economic support!
Registration and application
- Register for the event AND apply for the economic support at the latest 29 February 2024 by mail to (name, institution, research area and mention that you apply for economic support).
- Just register for the matchmaking event without applying for economic support at the latest 31 May 2024 by mail to (name, institution, research area)
More details about this event will come as soon as the schedule for the IUFRO World Congress week has become clarified, we will strive for minimizing overlapping activities.

Where: In the Nordic SNS booth at the IUFRO world congress in Stockholm
What: The matchmaking event is an opportunity to meet new colleagues and partners in research all over the Nordic region. You will get inspiration talks, information about applying for funding from SNS and maybe start sketching on a future project.
