Nordic Forest Research (SNS) and the Forest Bioeconomy Network (ForBioeconomy) hereby announce a joint research network call. The aim of the call is to promote collaboration and strengthen forest research related to bioeconomy in the Nordic region by networking activities. Deadline for application submission is August 31, 2022 at 24:00 CEST.
The main focus area for this call is prevention and risk management of forest damage in the Nordic region. Climate change makes it impossible to overlook the increased risks of fire and flooding in the Nordic region. We can also have increased attacks by pests, and also see new pests and invasive species when climate is getting warmer.
SNS and ForBioeconomy Network want to influence the Nordic forest sector by funding networks that address prevention and risk management of forest damage due to climate change-related events. Therefore, we encourage networks with a direct focus on prevention and risk management of forest damage in the Nordic region to apply for funding.
We also invite networks that relate to the general focus areas of the SNS strategy:
- Forest resources as a base for value creation and rural development
- Climate change adaptation and mitigation
- Safeguarding of forest biodiversity
About Nordic Forest Research (SNS)
Nordic Forest Research (SNS) is a co-operative body under the Nordic Council of Ministers that strives to enhance benefits for the Nordic region and contribute to the development of a sustainable society. The following focus areas are especially important for the activities of SNS: – Climate change mitigation and adaptation. – – Meeting the demands of sustainable forest management in a growing bioeconomy. Maintenance and increased utilization of forest-based ecosystem services.

About the Forest Bioeconomy Network
The Forest Bioeconomy Network (ForBioeconomy) is a research network affiliated to EFI (European Forest Institute). It promotes and facilitates research collaboration, develops and connects knowledge as well as encouraging policy interaction. The Forest Bioeconomy Network focuses on economics, governance and policy as well as issues related to sustainable production and utilization of forests. The thematic areas are:
- sustainable and efficient production and use of biomass,
- securing sustainable provision of forest ecosystem services, and
- demand and supply of forest-based products.

Nordic Forest Research (SNS) och Forest Bioeconomy Network (ForBioeconomy) utlyser härmed en gemensam nätverksutlysning för nordiska forskare. Syftet med utlysningen är att främja samarbete och stärka skogsforskning med anknytning till bioekonomi i Norden genom nätverkande aktiviteter. Sista ansökningsdag är den 31 augusti 2022 kl 24:00 CEST.
Det huvudsakliga fokusområdet för denna utlysning är förebyggande och riskhantering av skogsskador i Norden. Klimatförändringarna gör det omöjligt att förbise de ökade riskerna för brand och översvämningar i Norden. Vi kan också drabbas av ökade angrepp av skadegörare, och få se nya skadedjur och invasiva arter när klimatet blir varmare.
SNS och ForBioeconomy Network vill påverka den nordiska skogssektorn genom att finansiera nätverk som tar itu med förebyggande och riskhantering av skogsskador på grund av klimatförändringen. Därför uppmuntrar vi nätverk med direkt fokus på förebyggande och riskhantering av skogsskador i Norden att söka medel.
Vi bjuder också in nätverk som arbetar med SNS-strategins allmänna fokusområden:
• Skogsresurser som bas för värdeskapande och landsbygdsutveckling
• Anpassningar till och begränsning av klimatförändringen
• Säkerställande av skogens biologiska mångfald
