Come and join the SNS coordinated workshop on seeds and seedling supply on September 8th in Bergen! How can we ensure good access to seeds and seedlings in the future? What are the challenges, and how do we move forward with them?
The workshop will be held during NordGen’s annual conference in Bergen on September 8–9. The conference focuses on forest regeneration, plant and seed production, and forest genetic resources. It is aimed at professionals working in forest regeneration, tree breeding, and forest genetics through research, management, or business. Students with an interest in these topics are especially encouraged to attend. Participants will hear presentations, take part in excursions, and network. And they can also join the SNS workshop!
The workshop is part of a project initiated by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The project aims to map the supply situation for forest seeds and seedlings in a changing Nordic climate. The goal is to identify which tree species and seed sources are best suited for future climate conditions and, based on this, understand the challenges we face.
The project begins with a pilot phase aimed at mapping the current situation, potential vulnerabilities, and strategic action alternatives.
The SNS coordinated workshop “How do we secure the supply of seeds and seedlings for Nordic forests that can take the strain of climate change?” will develop and delve deeper into the content for the coming work in the project. The participants will contribute to the project by identifying both the most important challenges and prioritized areas for further investigation.
