Use your phone to assess damages on trees

With an app in your phone, you can assess damages on tree stems.

Clip from newsarticle. Illustration. The app is developed by researchers at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in cooperation with the Swedish Forest Agency.

The user add some basic facts: the age of the tree, average diameter, site, share of trees chewed and some more. The app computes how much you will loose in money at felling compared to the same stand with no damages.

This gives the forest owner some advice and makes it possible for her to test different scenarios. Plus, it pays attention to the damages made by animals to the forest, which, due to the researchers, is important.
