Completed projects

  • Assessment of Urban Forestry Research in the Nordic and Baltic Countries
One of the first tasks of CARe-FOR-US was to assess the state-of-art of urban forestry research in the Nordic and Baltic countries. We knew that many projects were being carried out, but lacked comprehensive overview of projects, research themes, research capacities, and so forth. To help identify research needs and strengthen research networking, a survey among those institutions that are (or may be) carrying out relevant projects has been carried out. The status of R&D projects was assessed up until 2005.
  • Assessment of Urban Forestry Research Needs in the Nordic and Baltic Countries
One of the first tasks of CARe-FOR-US was to identify research needs with regards to urban forestry in the Nordic and Baltic countries. Identification of needs and opportunities will help Nordic and Baltic researchers in developing new research agendas, initiating new projects, and continue to play a leading role at the European level.

Results of both projects can be found in the report Review of Urban Forestry Research and Research Needs in the Nordic and Baltic countries (pdf).

Findings of this review have also been published as: Konijnendijk, C.C., Nielsen, A.B., Schipperijn, J., Rosenblad, Y., Sander, S., Sarv, M., Mäkinen, K., Tyrväinen, L., Donis, J., Gundersen, V., Åkerlund, U., Gustavsson, R., 2006.
