Governance

This theme looks at strategic decision-making for forests and trees in urban settings. The following activities have been part of the work:

  • Contributions to EU policy workshop sharing experiences on urban and peri-urban forestry, Brussels, 28 January 2011. Status: meeting held and background papers on various matters published.
  • PhD course on ‘Governance in Urban Forestry & Urban Greening’ together with NOVA. Held 23-27 April 2012 at the University of Copenhagen, with 12 students from 8 countries. Status: completed.
  • Governance component of survey of municipal woodland resources, governance and management in Denmark. Status: completed. Article by Nielsen et al. published in Scandinavian Journal of Forest Research.
  • Research on quality aspects in green space planning and management. Status: article under review.
  • Contributions to review of urban forestry in the Baltic countries during Soviet times, coordinated by the Recreation and Tourism theme. Status: ongoing.
